1) How do I buy a painting? If there is a painting you’d like to purchase in the 'Available" section you can either e-mail me or call (707-829-1415). If the painting is in my studio I will ship it to you. If it is in one of the galleries, I will have them ship it to you from there. If you live in or around Sonoma/San Francisco Bay Area you are more than welcome to pick it up or I can deliver it to you.
2) What types of payment do you accept?
Personal checks, cash or credit cards through PayPal.
3) How do commissions work?
If you have any specific needs in terms of size, subject matter, color etc. I can create a piece especially for you usually within a month with half down and the balance upon completion.
4) Does/do the individual/s have to sit for portraits?
Not necessarily. The vast majority of my portraits are executed using exclusively photographs with no sitting required. You can either mail or e-mail the photos to me.
5) What if I don't like the painting when I receive it?
The most important thing to me is that you love your painting/s. Whether it's an existing piece, a portrait or a commission, if you're not happy, neither am I and I will gladly make any changes that you would like.
6) Is there a discount given for buying multiple paintings?
There definitely is - whether you purchase the paintings from either one of the galleries or directly from me. The actual discount is based upon a number of factors. Please e-mail or call with specifics of the paintings that you’d like.
7) Can I make payments?
Interest free payments are available. Let me know and we can work out a payment schedule that works for you.
8) What if I refer someone and they buy a painting?
As a thank you (depending on the actual sale) you'll get art.
9) Can I visit your studio?
Absolutely. It is located in Sebastopol, CA
10) Can you come to our house for a consultation?
Yes. Seeing the actual space that the paintings will end up in is ideal. If you are in or around the Sonoma/San Fracisco Bay Area, I would be more than happy to take a look.
11) Are references available?
They are. Just ask and I’ll gladly give you some.
12) How is shipping handled?
The large pieces need to be shipped in a wood crate. The smaller pieces can be shipped double cardboard boxed via FedEx. In most cases, I'll pay shipping.
13) How do you set your prices?
The galleries establish the baseline pricing. The basic formula is - length plus width in inches multiplied by $50. Portraits are considerably more labor intensive and therefore more expensive.
14) Can I try out a painting on approval?
Of course.
15) Do the prices include framing?
No, most of the paintings are on deeper stretcher bar canvases and don’t require framing.
Third & Wall Art Publishers are the exclusive publishers of my work. Limited edition prints and fine art posters will be available early 2007
17) Are you open to working in styles other than what's shown on your site?
I love challenges. Let me know what you have in mind.
18) Where can I see actual paintings?
Please click on the 'Gallery' link for gallery locations. You can also visit my studio.
19) Do you offer discounts to interior designers?
Yes I do. Please contact me to discuss specifics.
20) What medium do you work in?
Acrylic and/or oil on either canvas, board or paper.
21) Do you paint full time for a living?
Yes, I've been making my living as an artist for the last 16 years.
22) Do you paint every day?
Yes, no, yes. I used to paint everyday. Then I went through a period where I didn't and now once again I do.
23) What about the paintings on the blog?
The paintings on my blog are typically very small paintings (5" x 7") painted as part of my painting-a-day discipline. They are an inexpensive way to own one of my originals and are great for smaller spaces like kitchens and bathrooms.
24) Do you ever work on spec?
Depending on the piece and pending commitments, sometimes I will paint a piece on spec, particularly if the work is in keeping with what I do and can be sent to one of the galleries in the event it doesn't end up being purchased.
25) What is the price range of your paintings?
My paintings range in price from $100 to $15,000.
26) Do you paint murals?
No. Since I can have custom size canvas made I recommend having the painting done on canvas rather than on the wall in the event you move.
